Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Scott E. Augenbaum started his career as a Support Employee in the FBI's New York Office in 1988. He spent six years working as an Operations Assistant and Accounting Technician for the New York Office's Foreign Counter Intelligence Branch. He graduated City College of New York in 1992 and worked on his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Information Technology and Finance at Fordham University's Lincoln Center Campus, New York, NY. In November of 1994, he was promoted to a Special Agent (SA) and went to the FBI Academy at Quantico, Virginia. In June of 1995, SA Augenbaum reported for duty in the FBI Albany Division, Syracuse Resident Agency. SA Augenbaum worked on his first Cyber investigation in the fall of 1995 as part of the start of Innocent Images Online Child Exploitation initiative. For nine years, SA Augenbaum was the Case Agent on numerous Internet Fraud, Computer Intrusion and Innocent Images investigations. As part of SA Augenbaum's duties he established and maintained liaison with private industry, academia and law enforcement and formed a working group with over 150 individuals/agencies committed to protecting the critical Infrastructure in upstate New York from Cyber attack. After the September 11th attacks, SA Augenbaum created an ad-hoc task force of Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies which lead to the formation of the Joint Terrorism Task Force in Syracuse, New York. In December 2003, SA Augenbaum was promoted to a Supervisory Special Agent at FBIHQ, Cyber Division and was the Program Manager of the FBI's Cyber Task Force Program. He was responsible for the development and oversight of the Cyber Task Force Program within the FBI's 56 Field Offices. The Program was modeled after the JTTF and way for the FBI and their Federal, State and local law enforcement partners to combat the emerging threat of Computer Intrusion/Cyber Crime. In addition, SSA Augenbaum had Program Management responsibilities for the FBI's Intellectual Property Rights Program and maintained liaison with the numerous industry partners on different IPR issues. SSA Augenbaum has provided numerous presentations throughout the United States and Europe on IPR issues. In December 2006, SSA Augenbaum became the Supervisor of the FBI's Memphis Division Cyber Squad, based in Nashville, TN. SSA Augenbaum manages the Memphis Crimes Against Children Task Force made up of two FBI Special Agents, an Investigator from the Memphis Police Department and Shelby County Sheriff's Office and a Special Agent from the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In Nashville, TN, he formed a Joint Cyber Crime Task Force with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Franklin, TN Police Department to investigate Computer Intrusion, Online Child Exploitation, Intellectual Property Rights and Internet Fraud. The FBI Memphis Division has two robust InfraGard Chapters with a combined membership of approximately 400 private/public sector partners. The subject matter experts of InfraGard are utilized in the FBI's efforts to combat the emerging threat of Cyber Crime.

SSA Augenbaum will discuss IDENTIFYING YOUR CYBER DOMAIN AND DEVELOPING STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE PUBLIC/PRIVATE SECTOR. SSA Augenbaum will provide an overview of how the FBI, Memphis Division has developed an aggressive outreach program to educate the private/public sector on the emerging threat of computer intrusion attacks. The outreach program has identified the largest potential targets within the Division and has insured that the entities will report computer intrusions to the FBI. SSA Augenbaum will also detail how to effectively utilize Cyber Task Forces and strategic partnerships with subject matter experts to combat the growing threat of computer intrusion attacks.
