Google, Malvertising and Eric Davis at ICCS 2010
As firewalls and network administration have become more successful in limiting unauthorized access to sensitive information, criminals are focusing more on exploiting users inside the targeted organization through social engineering. After all, it is much easier to trick someone into clicking on a link than to tap into encrypted fiber optic communications.
Malvertising is the installation of malware via advertising networks. In other words, clicking a bad link. As Google's Head of Anti-Malvertising, Eric Davis has put together a team that develops strategic initiatives, tools, processes and external alliances to protect display ad properties from malware threats. He is co-author of two security-related patents, Board member of the National Cyber Security Alliance and in-demand speaker.
Join us at ICCS 2010 to hear Eric Davis share his knowledge on combating the growing threat of malvertising as well as many of today's Emerging Technologies, Operations and Enforcement, and Real Life Experiences related to cyber security.

Operation Mariposa Botnet
12 Million Computer Army, Defeated!
Not since Clifford Stoll's "The Cuckoo's Egg" has there been a more engrossing story of cyber-crime cat and mouse. The MARIPOSA BOTNET was discovered by Defense Intelligence in May, 2009 which led to the creation of the Mariposa Working Group, comprised of Defense Intelligence, the Georgia Tech Information Security Center, Panda Security and international security experts and law enforcement agencies. Together, they tracked the botnet's traffic and analyzed its behavior until they were able to actually take control of Mariposa on December 23, 2009. While the criminal gang behind it was able to regain control, the Working Group managed to track down the gang and, on February 3, 2010, its leader was arrested in Spain. Come to ICCS 2010 to hear the complete investigation from start to finish; this promises to be a most fascinating session.
